Perth Upmarket founder, Justine Barsley, moved to Perth back in 2006 and found that whilst there were hosts of creative people, they were hard to find. She found it difficult to find a regular high quality market to sell her own designs and from this evolved the concept of Perth Upmarket. Today, you will find many more Perth markets including Farmers Markets, Vintage Markets and kids markets. Perth also plays hosts to many exciting events each year including the Perth Fringe Festival, Perth International Arts Festival and Skyworks… to name a few.
Perth Upmarket brings together over 200 of Perth’s talented local artists, designers, stylists, craftsmen and gourmets all under one roof. The product mix is diverse ranging from handmade clothing, cupcakes, wall art, cards, homewares, jewellery to skin care products. All products at Perth Upmarket are made OR designed in WA. The market allows Perth shoppers who appreciate the handmade to connect with the talented creators.
Established in 2008, Perth Upmarket quickly established itself as Perth’s premier quarterly market for handcrafted wares. Due its popularity, in 2010 Perth Upmarket moved from the Perth Town Hall to the beautiful, more spacious and more accessible Winthrop Hall which is part of the University of Western Australia. In addition to Upmarket’s regular quarterly event, the Perth Upmarket team also runs two Wedding Upmarkets each year and pop up events across Western Australia.
Justine’s vision is to help creative small business to succeed. She does this through her events and also by fostering a collaborative community and delivering learning programs to help creatives run sustainable and successful businesses.
Perth Upmarket is pleased to have partnered with the Starlight Children’s Foundation from 2008-2016. In this time we have raised over $35,000 to help seriously ill children.
In 2016, we formed a community partnership with Guide Dogs WA.
Upmarket founder, Justine Barsley has been puppy raising with Guide dogs since 2014 and she has seen first hand the independence that at Guide dog can give a person who is visually impaired. She is inspired by the work of Guide Dogs WA and now the Perth Upmarket community will work towards raising money to sponsor another Guide dog.
