Janet Pfeiffer is new to Perth. She is a full-time visual artist and a creativity coach. Janet works from her home-studio in Stirling. When she is not painting, she is coaching others in their creative pursuits and especially enjoys helping budding artists to tap into their own unique creativity.
Janet said her art journey started out with representational watercolor paintings. After a while she became stagnant and restricted in her artworks and needed a change. The turning point came for Janet about three years ago, when she discovered the exciting world of collage. She said "I discovered a new way of seeing. I learn't to see and feel and paint in a fresh and innocent way, like a child, without being so concerned about technique and getting it "right". A wonderful, creative world of art began to unfold before me. I tapped into more of myself and my creativity. I felt my heart beat faster. I began to sway and breathe to the strokes and rhythm of my work. As I continued to explore collage, I began painting on framed canvas using acrylic based mediums and texture pastes, often with some watercolor too and a few added collage elements or found things"
Janet says her inspiration comes from absolutely anything that captures her attention, especially the colours and patterns and textures all around us. She says she now makes marks that mean something to her, even if others don't get it and she seeks to stay connected to that very basic creative urge that resides in us all.
