Applying to Retail at Perth Upmarket

DUE TO AN OVERWHELMING RESPONSE, APPLICATIONS FOR THE DECEMBER MARKET ARE NOW CLOSED.  YOU MAY SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FOR 2009 MARKETS.

Perth Upmarket is a high quality market showcasing Perth’s talented craftsmen, artists, designers and gourmets. Potential retailers should complete the online application form and provide product images.  Images may be used on the Perth Upmarket website and promotional material.

 
Applications are assessed on receipt and must accompany examples of your work in the way of high resolution photographs.  The quality of the examples you submit will have a direct bearing on your chances of acceptance. 
 
Successful applicants will receive a offer by email within approximately 6 weeks prior to the next market or will be advised that they have been added to the pool of eligible retailers to show at specific future markets.  Unsuccessful applications will be advised by email. 
 
Upon receiving an offer full payment will be required within 2 weeks. Sites are reallocated if payment is not received by the due dates.

What are the dates for Perth Upmarket events?
 
The next Perth Upmarket will run at Perth Town Hall on Sunday 14th December between 10am-5pm. (extended hours)
 
The market will run quarterly.  Tenative dates have been booked at the Perth Town Hall for 2009.  These will be in March (8th), June, September and December.  This is pending City of Perth Council Approval and may change.  Please subscribe to our newsletter to keep informed of the dates.
 
What is the cost of to have a Retail Stall in  2009? 
 
This varies depending on the size of the site (small, medium or large). Prices are currently being revised.
Small = 2m wide  x 1.5m deep = $tba
Medium = 3m wide x 1.5m deep = $tba
Large = 3m x  3m x 3m = $tba
XLarge= 4m x 3m x 3m = $tba (one only)
 
There is a fixed number of each site size. Retailers may nominate a size preference, allocation will depend on availability. Design students may share a stall at the cost of $60 each. 
 
Public Liability insurance up to $10 Million dollars is required.  You can purchase liability insurance for the day of the market for an additional $20. ($10 for students) The venue is undercover. Powered sites on application.  No commision payable.
 
For your stall fee you get:
  • Undercover Site at a regular high quality market
  • Web presence - including link to your website.

You need to provide your own table but a chair is supplied.  A limited number of tables are available for hire for $30 per market. 

We also write a regular Blog and send out a regular Newsletter to our subscribers called Upmarket Uncovered which you can be featured in if you are interested.

  
What are the criteria for being accepted as a stall holder?
 
  • Uniqueness, quality, range and style of products 
  • Professional merchandising and presentation of products
  • Number of other retailers already accepted with similar product 
  • Right fit for the target market 
  • Level of personal involvement in the design/creation/production of the product.
 
The selection criteria are applied rigorously and Perth Upmarket reserves the right to reject applications as they see fit.  
 
What are the closing dates for applications?
 
DECEMBER MARKET APPLICATIONS NOW CLOSED.  Applications for 2009 may now be submitted.  These will be assessed in Mid January.  The first market for 2009 is planned for Sunday 8th March. (Pending Council Approval)
 
 Do existing retailers need to re apply for subsequent markets?
 
No, you do not need to complete another application form.  Simply let us know by email if you would like to participate in the next market.  We like to vary the mix of retailers and we will assess the mix of stallholders for each market.  A letter of offer will be sent to you before the next market if you have been successful in securing a site.
 

If my application is unsuccessful, can I reapply for subsequent events?

You may reapply if your product range changes significantly.
